Jason Simmons Racing and driver Tyler Thompson aren’t afraid of a challenge and it showed again this past week as the team contended in four races over six nights on both the dirt and asphalt with their No. 98 machines.

The week-long grind opened on Tuesday, August 7 as Thompson and JSR travelled to Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, NY to contend in the Sportsman portion of the Summer Nationals.

After taking third in his qualifying heat race, Thompson rolled to seventh in the A-Main for a fine top ten score to get the week started on the right foot.

After running the dirt on Tuesday, Thompson travelled over six hours to Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH on Friday, August 10 for his second career start with the ISMA Supermodified organization.

Thompson again adapted quickly to yet another new speedway, copping his first career top ten finish in a winged Supermodified as he took ninth in the 75-lap Ollie Silva Memorial main event, trailing veterans Mike Ordway Jr., Mark Sammut, Dan Bowes, Kyle Edwards, Jon McKennedy, Chris Perley, Ben Seitz and Otto Sitterly.

From there, an overnight trip back to Fulton, NY laid ahead of Thompson and JSR with Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified event on tap for Saturday, August 11.

But, preparing one car was not all that had to be done, as JSR offered their winged machine to non-winged driver Aric Iosue to compete with at Oswego. Arriving back in Fulton, NY at 6:30 a.m., the crew immediately went to work with the Iosue Racing team to reset the JSR winged machine for non-winged action at Oswego.

With little sleep, but a lot of effort, both Thompson and Iosue won qualifying heat races on Saturday at Oswego in JSR mounts before each driver raced to top ten finishes in the 50-lap main event as Iosue took sixth and Thompson eighth.

With consecutive nights of Supermodified action behind them, JSR and Thompson then turned back to the dirt on Sunday, August 12.

Weedsport Speedway was the destination on Sunday as Thompson first tested at the all-new Weedsport Kartway before driving to an 11th place finish in the Spano Containter Sportsman Shootout Series main at the Port.

“This was an incredible week,” said Thompson. “Thanks again to my amazing team and group of partners that help to make all of this happen. To score four top ten finishes as a team this week, between the dirt and asphalt, is amazing.”

Thompson will compete Friday through Sunday this coming week as the former New York Dirt Kart Series champion returns to his roots on Friday, August 17 for the Justin Lamb Memorial at Oswego Kartway.

Saturday will see Thompson back at Oswego Speedway for the regular season finale in the Novelis Supermodified division before hitting Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fultonville, NY on Sunday for the Hoosier Daddy 602 Regional Championship in memory of Don Warner.
