Thompson, the youngest winner in the 63-year history of Oswego Speedway’s International Classic at just 17 years of age, is excited to make his first trip to LORP, a speedway rich in open-wheel racing history.

“I have heard a lot of great things about Raceway Park,” said Thompson. “We showed great speed last week in the Star Classic with the top wing and we hope to bring that to Indy this weekend. We can’t wait to get out there.”

Less than a week after his Classic triumph at Oswego, Thompson set the bar in practice for the ISMA Supermodified Star Classic 125 in Epping, NH on September 7.

After qualifying sixth fastest in time trials, Thompson started the 125 from the 12th position and was riding in the top ten before a steering issue forced the No. 98T to pit lane, out of the action only a third of the way through the event.

Saturday’s event in Indianapolis will be the Midwest Supermodified Series finale for 2019, and Thompson’s first start with the series.

A stout field of competitors is expected this weekend in what will be the penultimate Supermodified event of the year, with only Thompson Speedway’s World Series of Racing left on the calendar.
