Accomplished soprano Carol Chapman will perform a feast of songs from across Europe at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in SUNY Oswego's Sheldon Hall ballroom, assisted by past and present colleagues at Missouri State University.

"The repertoire is a mix of German, French and English songs by Schubert, Strauss, Debussy, Fauré and contemporary English composers Ned Rorem and Thomas Pasatieri. It should be fun!" said Todd Graber, now chair of the SUNY Oswego music department and formerly of Missouri State's faculty, who will perform a duet with Chapman.

The recital, part of the college's Focus on Faculty series, also will feature Lisa Casey, principal horn chair with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and professor of music at Missouri State, and accompanist Russell Miller, professor of vocal coaching and repertoire at University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music.

Chapman, who has performed operas and oratorios with the Liberty Symphony, Springfield Symphony, American Kantorei and many others, will, assisted by Casey, sing "Auf dem Strom" with horn, by Franz Schubert, followed by four songs by Richard Strauss and a six-song cycle from Claude Debussy's "Ariette oubliées."

With Graber, she'll also perform Gabriel Fauré's "Pleurs d'or," then finish with two selections from Rorem and three from Pasatieri.

General admission tickets for this and any Focus on Faculty performance in the series are $8 ($5 for SUNY Oswego students), available at all college box offices, online at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 315-312-2141. Parking is included in the price of a ticket, and is available in the lots adjacent to and across Washington Boulevard from Sheldon Hall.

People with disabilities needing assistance should call 315-312-2141 in advance of the performance.
