On Saturday, July 4th, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., residents from across Oswego County will gather on Bridge Street—from West 1st Street to East 3rd Street—for the 250th Anniversary Celebration Rally of the United States, sponsored by Indivisible Oswego County.
We invite everyone to join us for a morning of reflection, pride, and community spirit as we commemorate this historic milestone.
Oswego County’s story is deeply woven into the broader American narrative. Long before the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, this region served as a strategic crossroads of trade, culture, and military significance. Fort Ontario, established in the mid‑18th century, became a gateway through which soldiers, families, and immigrants passed—seeking safety, opportunity, and a place to build new lives. Its presence shaped the early development of Oswego as a port community and positioned the county as a vital link in the young nation’s defense and commerce.
The 250th anniversary is not only a celebration of independence; it is a reminder of the responsibilities we inherit from those who came before us. Democracy thrives when communities show up, participate, and care for one another. On July 4th, we honor that tradition by gathering as neighbors committed to the values that have guided our nation and our county for generations.
We encourage everyone to join us on Bridge Street with flags held high and hearts full. Together, let us celebrate Oswego County’s enduring place in the American story.
