Preparations of 2025 Federal and State taxes will begin on Tuesday February 3 at the McCrobie Civic Center located at 41 Lake Street, Oswego and continue every Tuesday through April 14.

In Fulton, preparations will begin on Wednesday February 4 at the Fulton Municipal building located at 141 S 1st St. and continue every Wednesday through April 15. The hours will be from 9am to 3pm at both sites.

Beginning Monday, January 19, county residents may call 315-320-6140 to schedule an appointment at the site of their choice. Please leave your name and phone number, and a tax aide volunteer will call you back to set up an appointment. If you have multiple tax returns to file, make sure to inform the tax aide volunteer when scheduling the appointment.

To ensure a smooth process, taxpayers are required to complete an intake pamphlet prior to arrival. These pamphlets are readily available at the local libraries in Oswego, Fulton, and Phoenix, as well

as at the tax preparation sites. In addition to the completed intake pamphlet, taxpayers must bring their social security card and a picture ID along with other pertinent information listed on the pamphlet.

Sponsored by AARP, the Volunteer Tax Aide program offers counseling, preparation, and e-filing of taxes for residents of Oswego County, regardless of age or income, with special emphasis for those ages 60 and older. In coordination with the IRS, AARP Volunteer Tax Aides receive mandatory training annually and are required to be certified each tax season. The training includes current federal and state tax laws specific to personal tax returns and those provisions of the tax code that affect older people.
