The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is excited to announce two new programs for all ages coming up in September.
First, on Saturday, September 6 th, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Butterflies and Moths will introduce participants to moths and butterflies through both indoor and outdoor activities. They will see their favorite winged insects up close, get their hands messy making a wildflower seed ball, and try using a sweep net.
Participants can learn about local butterfly and moth species and develop an appreciation for wildlife in an interesting, hands-on environment.
Later in the month, on Sunday, September 28th from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Wildflower Walk and Sketch introduces participants to wildflowers blooming in late September through an artistic lens. They will learn how some species got their names and ended up here, along with their traditional uses. Then they will break out the colored pencils and sketch books as we take a closer look at the flora along our trails.
Attendees will learn about local wildflowers and develop an appreciation for plant life in a fun and interactive setting.
These programs are designed for people of all ages and offer a unique opportunity for people to connect with nature. While space is limited, registration is open to all — residency in Oswego County is not required. The fee for each program is $4 per person or $12 per family. Advance registration is required to attend.
