Young, an award-winning saxophonist and faculty member at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, will collaborate with his SUNY Oswego music department host, Trevor Jorgensen, and Dan and Marilee Blumenthal in a recital of quartets for soprano, alto, tenor and the large "bari," the baritone saxophone.

"The goal is to replicate the music of strings," Jorgensen said. "Composers have written for it. We’re going to try some different world music, including a Piazzolla tango."

Young has garnered awards and recognition at the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York City, the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition, among others.

The former Wichita State University faculty member has played with PRISM Saxophone Quartet, Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Charleston (South Carolina) Symphony Orchestra and University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with the Wichita State University Orchestra, Wichita State University Wind Ensemble, Minot Symphony Orchestra and the University of Michigan Concert Band.
