Bryon James McAllister, 53, passed away at his home in Cicero, New York on June 6, 2026.

Bryon grew up in Oswego, NY and was a stellar hockey player, graduating with honors from Canton ATC where he was captain of the hockey team. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brockport State University.

He was the athletic trainer at Cazenovia College for over 20 years until the college closed. He was an athletic trainer at Fort Drum for three years and was working for Auburn Community Hospital at the time of his death as the athletic trainer for sports injuries. All were fortunate enough to have him on their staff.

Anyone who met Bryon will never forget his go-getter personality and his habit of always finding ways to fix something rather than replace it. His compassion was always apparent to all, offering food to others before he even grabbed a plate, giving up a chair when he would stand, and basing a lot of his own life values on the importance of helping those around him.

Bryon is survived by three children, Gavin, Brayden, and Brynn McAllister; his parents, James and Lucille McAllister; his siblings, Craig McAllister and Mary Beth McAllister Castillo, his nephews Connor, Duncan, Zachary, Aiden, Evan, and his niece Keely.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00 to noon on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego, NY.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bryon’s memory may be directed to the Jed Foundation, at jedfoundation.org

A celebration of his life will be held later in the summer.
