Discover an enriching and rewarding summer experience!
Camp Hollis is looking for dynamic individuals who not only want a fun summer job but also hope to have a positive impact on a child’s life.
A variety of positions are available, including camp counselor, co-director, waterfront director, lifeguard/counselor, group activity leader, camp nurse, kitchen helper, cook/night kitchen supervisor, office manager, night security guard and weekend camp host or hostess.
The Camp also accepts applications for its counselor-in-training (CIT) and junior counselor programs. The CIT program allows 15-year-olds to learn more about how a camp works and experience the camp as a staff member. These four-week positions are unpaid, but time spent at camp can count toward volunteer or community service hours. The CIT program runs from June 21 to July 17.
Junior counselors are 16-year-olds who work primarily with the day camp program. They assist other staff members in planning and overseeing camp activities. They are paid a stipend of $1,000 upon successful completion of the program. Both the CIT and junior counselor programs require residency at the camp Sunday through Friday as well as attending a training week prior to the start of camp.
Applications for CIT and junior counselor positions must be submitted by Sunday, April 26.
Day camp counselor positions are offered through the AmeriCorps program, which gives participants the opportunity to earn a living allowance and an education award while gaining valuable work experience and serving their community. Over the course of the summer, members will work 300 hours, earn a total living allowance of $2,823, and an education award of $1,565.08.
Most positions run June 21 through Aug. 14. Overnight camp positions require residency at the camp from Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon, with room and meals provided by Camp Hollis. Employees are paid bi-weekly and pay varies by position.
Camp staff enjoy working in a fun, outdoor environment; being a positive influence and role model for younger kids; and having the opportunity to receive training and certification in select programs. Camp employment is an excellent resume item and a great source for letters of recommendation.
Camp Hollis serves over 5,000 Oswego County residents through various camp programs, facility rentals and events.
