     During the month of January, Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., is offering a variety of art classes to the public.

     Marlene Davis is the winner of the United Way of Greater Oswego County's drawing for a half-carat total weight diamond ring. Valued at $1,200, the diamond ring was donated by DuFore's for Diamonds in Oswego. The drawing, which was part of the United Way's Annual Campaign, raised more than $1,300 for the United Way of Greater Oswego County's Community Fund and made Christmas extra special for the lucky winner.      The Oswego Public Library Public Computing Center will offer a free Credit Repair workshop ofrom 6:30-7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14, in the Community Room.

     With the issue of school safety on every parent's mind, the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County has partnered with the Oswego City School District (OCSD), the Oswego County Department of Social Services, the Huntington Family Centers of Syracuse and the Oswego County Child Protection Advisory Council to offer a community forum on the subject.

     Oswego County Workforce New York, operated by the Division of Employment and Training, will hold a "New Year – New Career" workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 22, to help Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries learn about work incentives and rules that will help them return to work.

     A school project for the Christmas holidays turned out to be more than just a grade for eighth-grade student, Malcolm Wettering, and brought tremendous joy to the residents of one Oswego nursing home.

     Education First Foundation is currently seeking host families for either a semester or a year for high school students hoping to visit the United States from 25 countries.

     Legislator Fred C. Beardsley, District 9, was re-elected to his second term as Oswego County Legislature Chairman at the 2013 organizational meeting.

     The Richard S.Shineman Foundation announced that it has pledged $250,000 to the Oswego YMCA capital campaign.
