Write a commentThe Art Association of Oswego invites the community to explore the expressive and meditative world of Kurinuki in a unique, two-part pottery class designed for all skill levels—from complete beginners to experienced potters.
Taking place on May 13 and May 27 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, this immersive workshop introduces participants to the traditional Japanese technique of carving forms from solid blocks of clay. Known for its organic shapes and deeply personal aesthetic, Kurinuki offers a refreshing alternative to wheel throwing and slab building.
During the first session, students will learn foundational carving techniques and begin shaping their own one-of-a-kind piece. In the second session, participants will return to glaze and finish their work, bringing their artistic vision to life. Class size is intentionally limited to 8 students to ensure individualized instruction and a supportive, creative environment.
