Eileen A. Amedio, 90, a resident of St. Francis Commons, passed away peacefully in Oswego Hospital on Thursday March 5th, 2026.
Born in Oswego N.Y. on November 5th, 1935, to the late Karl and Anna (Gallagher) Peglow. Eileen was the youngest of six children, attended St. Paul’s Academy and Oswego High School. Shortly after graduating High School, she met the Love of her life, Joseph Amedio and was Married on April 24th, 1954. Together, with Joe, they raised 6 children.
Eileen was a stay home Mom for most of her life. She valued friendship with passion, maintaining close knit ties to her childhood Girlfriends growing up on the East side of Oswego. That group would become known as the 6th St. Gang and for many decades they gathered annually to celebrate those long-lasting relationships at Selkirk Shores. She was a founding member and the last of their kind.
Eileen was also a gifted Card Player, becoming a Life Master in the forgotten art of Bridge. So respected at her craft she was recruited to play Bridge all over the Eastern United States. In later years, she again founded a lady’s group, affectionately called the F.R.O.G.’s, short for “F*#@ing Rowdy Old Girls.
Eileen is survived by her children, Michael (Kathy) Amedio of Oswego N.Y., Julie (Irwin) Flack, of Philadelphia PA., David (Dorothea) Amedio, of Algonquin IL., Thomas (Nanette) Amedio of Oswego N.Y. & Steven (Lacy) Amedio, of Charlotte N.C., 13 Grand Children, 11 Great Grand Children and 1 Great Great Grandchild. She was predeceased by her Husband Joseph Amedio in 2017 and eldest son Joseph P. Amedio in 2025 along with her parents and Siblings, Karl, Francis & Albert Peglow, Mary Craig and Anne Laney.
The family would like to thank the Oswego Hospital Drs. and Nurses on the 4th floor for their care and compassion in making our Mom comfortable.
There are no calling hours. The family will hold a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life later this year. Contributions in Eileen’s memory can be made to a Charity of your choice.
Arrangements are in the care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
