Visit the Oswego Public Library for a Saturday afternoon program with Derrick Pratt, the Director of Education at the Erie Canal Museum.

Pratt will present a talk on how the Erie Canal transformed food access for the eastern United States.

Food is the most basic building block of human life. We all need it to survive and thrive. But where does our food come from? How does it get to where we can eat it? Who decides what products will be available for us to eat? The answers to all of these questions, for people in Upstate New York and throughout the United States, were radically transformed by the completion of the Erie Canal in 1825 and continued to change dramatically over the next 200 years as the Canal itself changed.

Saturday, September 27, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the library's Community Room on the lower level. The program is great for anyone interested in food distribution or New York State history. Presented by the Erie Canal Museum, at the Oswego Public Library, on 120 E 2nd Street, Oswego, NY, 13126.

This program is free and open to the public. Please call 315.341.5867 or email [email protected] with any questions.
