Fast-pitch softball clinic for girls

     A fast-pitch softball hitting/pitching clinic for girls will be held Sunday mornings from Jan. 6 through March 3 at the Oswego YMCA Armory.      The clinic is open to all girls in grades 5-12 who are interested in softball and would like to develoop their skills before the school or summer softball seasons begin. Both beginners and advanced players are welcome.
     Hitting will be from 8:45-9:45 a.m. each Sunday in the Armory gym and batting cage. Eash session will consist of a 20-minute presentation by a coach or guest clinician and then the remainder of the hour will be hands-on hitting drills and/or practice in the batting cage.
     Pitchers will also receive brief instruction weekly and then use the 10-11 a.m. hour to throw under the supervision of coaches.
     Videotaping will be used as a teachig tool in later sessions for pitchers and hitters.
     There is a cost per hour for the clinics. Nine-session packages are also available.
     Pitchers must bring a parent or friend as a catcher. Hitters can bring their own bats. Sneakers are recommended. All other equipment will be provided.
     The clinic is sponsored by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and local ASA commissioner Mike McCrobie. The clinic will be staffed by Oswego High School varsity softball coach, Ron Ahart; modified coach, Brad Shannon; and alumni of the Oswego High School softball program.
