Explore "Fiber and Fire" at the Salmon River Fine Arts Center in Pulaski, NY.

This special curated exhibition celebrates the beautiful and unique approaches to fiber arts by Alison Altafi and Tina Limpert and the colorful fire-forged, nature-influenced ceramics and artistry by Rachel Consolazio. Come experience the work and connect with the artists and community at the public opening reception Friday, May 29th 5- 7 pm. The exhibit runs through June 27, 2026.

Alison Altafi is a mixed media fiber artist based in Syracuse, New York, with a nontraditional approach to weaving. The work on exhibit focuses on weaving in the round and the cyclical nature of the process evoke a sense of magic, otherworldliness, and fantasy-immersive art that offers a space for escape and contemplation. In 2021, FiberArtNow Magazine featured her work in their “emerging artist showcase,” and since then her weavings have been displayed in galleries and publications across the country including a 2023 solo exhibition, Reverie, locally at the Everson Museum.

Rachel Consolazio is a ceramic artist and watercolor painter based in Upstate NY. A graduate of Syracuse University School of Art, Consolazio is drawn to the interplay of color and pattern. She began her career as a freelance surface pattern designer, creating designs for products ranging from gift bags and apparel to wallcoverings. In 2019, she shifted her focus to ceramics, where she found a new medium to express her love for design and texture.  The exhibit features both Consolazio’s colorful ceramics as well as her paintings illustrating the vibrant fusion of themes and how they interplay between form and surface. Consolazio’s work has been featured in gallery exhibitions across the country, and she participates in numerous juried art festivals each year.

Tina Limpert is a textile artist from Syracuse, NY. She grows and forages her natural dye and basket materials in Sandy Creek, NY. Recently retired from the Department of Environmental Studies at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Limpert works with earth-friendly processes and materials that serve as an act of recording and remembering place, people, events, and environments. Limpert’s embroidered work has been featured at the Everson Museum of Art, the CNY Artists Showcase, and Gandee Gallery.

This show is a must see and will only be up for one month.  The exhibit is free and may be viewed during gallery open hours: Thursdays and Fridays 12 pm – 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm.
