Katie has recently been named the brightest, and the most talented young comedy screenwriter in Hollywood today, and is the co-writer, along with famed director, Paul Feig, of the current blockbuster movie, GHOSTBUSTERS.
Katie, along with her mom and dad, and sister, Samantha, lived in Oswego for a few years when her dad was an executive with the Nestle company in Fulton. Katie and Samantha made many friends while attending school here.
After graduating from Rutgers University, Katie was an intern at GOOD MORNING AMERICA, THE CONAN O'BRIEN SHOW, and SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, and eventually made the move to Hollywood, where she ended up becoming one of the chief comedy writers for the popular show PARKS AND RECREATION. While there, she began working on a screenplay, which ended up being the hit movie THE HEAT, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. The movie was directed by Paul Feig, who recognized the talent Katie possessed for comedy writing and had her contribute lines and ideas for other movies he was directing, including THE BOSS, also starring Melissa McCarthy. Next came Katie's script for GHOSTBUSTERS and soon she was being sought after by top interviewers, including recently, Katie Couric.
Currently, Katie is in Hawaii where filming is taking place on her next script, as yet untitled, but is a mother-daughter story, based on Katie and her mom, and is starring Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer. Katie's older sister, Samantha, is doing stand-up comedy work in New York City and looking to get into acting soon.
Both Katie and Samantha, as well as their parents, have fond memories of Oswego and send their warmest regards to all.
