Families recently filled the halls of Dennis M. Kenney Middle School for the school’s annual “DMK on Display” event, an evening dedicated to celebrating student learning, creativity and achievement.

The event featured student work from a variety of subject areas, giving visitors the opportunity to see firsthand the projects, lessons and activities students have been working on throughout the school year.

One of the evening’s highlights was the popular sixth-grade wax museum held in the gymnasium. Students researched notable individuals and transformed themselves into their chosen historical or cultural figure by dressing in costume and presenting facts about their subject. The gym came alive with portrayals of actors, presidents, astronauts, singers and other influential historical figures as students shared what they had learned through their research projects.

In addition to the displays and classroom projects, students in Christine Lamont’s classroom shared a hands-on project of their own by giving away tomato plants they had grown and planted themselves.

“DMK on Display is a wonderful opportunity for our students to take pride in their work and share their learning with families,” said Principal Khrystie Allen. “The event highlights not only academic achievement, but also creativity, collaboration and the enthusiasm our students bring to their learning experiences.”
