ICPOC Highlights Business Navigator as a Game-Changing Tool for Employers Supporting Working Families

Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, Inc. (ICPOC) is highlighting a powerful statewide resource designed to help employers better support employees with child care needs: The Business Navigator: Employer’s Guide to Child Care Solutions in New York State.

For many working families, child care challenges are daily barriers that affect employment, stability, and well-being. At the same time, employers across Oswego County are navigating workforce shortages, retention challenges, and rising operational pressures. The Business Navigator addresses both realities by offering practical, flexible strategies that help businesses support their workforce while strengthening the local child care system.

“It’s about recognizing a shared challenge and using the tools already available to build solutions that work for everyone,” said Brandy Koproski, Executive Director of ICPOC.

Designed specifically for employers, the Business Navigator provides step-by-step guidance to help businesses better understand employee child care needs, explore support options that fit their workforce and budget, and connect with local child care experts. It does not require employers to create on-site programs or incur costly investments. Instead, it offers scalable strategies, from flexible scheduling and referrals to partnerships and employee awareness-building, that can be implemented immediately or over time.

When employers are equipped with the right tools and information, the benefits extend beyond the workplace. Working parents gain greater stability and fewer disruptions, while local child care providers benefit from stronger connections with businesses and increased awareness of available services.

ICPOC is encouraging employers across Oswego County to explore the Business Navigator and consider how small, practical changes can make a meaningful difference for their employees and the broader community.

The Business Navigator was developed by the Early Care & Learning Council with support from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and partners statewide.
