Bernstein, among the most in-demand New York City-based guitarists the past two decades, has worked with jazz masters that include Larry Goldings, Lou Donaldson, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, Joshua Redman, Diana Krall and Bill Stewart.
While attending the New School, Bernstein met Jim Hall, who recruited him for a concert at the 1990 JVC Jazz Festival, performing alongside such luminaries as John Scofield and Pat Metheny. He recorded his first album in 1992 as part of a quartet. Albums since then, often as lead of a trio, have included "Signs of Life," "Heart's Content" and "Monk."
Rick Balestra, a Syracuse-based jazz guitarist and adjunct instructor of music at SUNY Oswego, will play host to Bernstein.
Tickets for Bernstein's performance are $15 ($5 for SUNY Oswego students), available at all college box offices, online at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 315-312-2141. A preconcert talk will take place at 7 p.m.
