Jess Novak started playing violin when she was 7 years old, but it wasn't until almost 20 years later that she made a career out of her dream. Now playing more than 250 dates every year and instruments including guitar, violin, piano and vocals, Novak has proven herself a force in the music world. She's toured from Burlington, Vermont to Key West, Florida to Austin, Texas, shared stages with Mike Zito and Devon Allman and released five albums in five years. She'll release her next all-original studio album with The Jess Novak Band this winter. For more information, visit www.jessrocknovak.com.
Originally from the Saratoga Springs region, Taylor Ricks began attending classes at SUNY Oswego in 2007. Since graduating, he has been active in the local and regional music scene. Ricks is a multi-instrumentalist whose stylistic influences include Folk, Jazz, Blues, Samba and Ragtime. His writing combines introspective themes with outward observations; engaging with the music as both an outlet for personal creativity, as well as a facilitator of social interaction. He has performed and recorded with several local artists including Our Friends Band, Natural Medicine, Chris James & Mama G Band, John McConnell, Cam Caruso, and Gary Carpentier.
Hailing from New City, NY, Mike Shiel came to Oswego to attend college in 1988, soon after he picked up his first acoustic guitar. Since that time, he has been a member of numerous bands and has played in multiple cities and venues across New York State. Shiel currently resides in Rochester and has shifted his focus toward his acoustic show, in which he blends classic and modern rock covers with original material. Shiel’s own brand of Acoustic Folk Rock is rhythmic, percussive and incorporates looping and improvisational jamming. His energy on stage is boundless, blissful and infectious. Shiel's original songwriting is intrinsically connected to nature and also to his family and friendships and he can often be seen sharing the stage with his lovely wife, Anita.
