On Saturday, the OHS cross country teams traveled to Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School to compete in the Section III Championships.
Conditions were less than ideal for cross country racing with temperatures in the 30s and rain along with sleet.
The girls raced first over the challenging 5-kilometer course.
Lainey Celeste finished first for the Lady Bucs as she raced to a 22:56.2 clocking.
Kyra O'Gorman was next 24:01.3, followed by Chloe Patterson 24:52.5, Meg LiVoti 25:25.4, Mallory Gordon 26:33.9 and Kaela Shafer ran her last race as a Lady Buc improved her time on the VVS course by 30 seconds.
"All the girls improved their time today from running on the same course almost two months ago," Coach Dan Greene said. "This is amazing considering the race conditions between the weather and sloppy course."
The team finished in 10th place just two points behind the ninth place squad.
Matt DiFabio was the first Buc runner to cross the finish line for the boys. DiFabio ran 20:59.3.
Patrick Baer was next as he crossed the finish line in 21:02.4 followed by Jim Dillon 23:11.2 and Paul Oleyourryk 23:53.1
Shafer, DiFabio and Dillon completed their OHS cross country careers and will be missed next year.
These three were instrumental in a successful season.
Both Coach Talamo and Coach Greene thank them for their dedication to the cross country program.
