Write a commentNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary hosted the inaugural Lake Ontario International Film Festival on Thursday, April 2 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego.
The festival featured 12 short films from marine sanctuaries across the world. Film topics included a diving expedition of a 150-year-old Lake Ontario shipwreck, the lake sturgeon “dinosaur fish” and efforts to protect it, a diver’s search for Kimberlite under the arctic ice, the story of how diving helped a group of veterans heal and bond; and more. Nearly 200 people attended the film festival, including Oswego County Administrator Phil Church, Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup, multiple Oswego County legislators, City of Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino, and many residents and visitors.
