Lynda M. Fontana, 80 and a longtime resident of Oswego died after a brief illness surrounded by her family on Monday January 1, 2024, at Upstate Community Hospital.
She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Knopp Callen.
Mrs. Fontana was the wife of the late Ralph Fontana who died in 2009.
She had been employed as an artist with Sealright for many years and most recently worked on the Oswego State Campus in both Culkin Hall and Penfield Library.
Lynda loved all creatures - from her beloved horse to the succession of stray cats that were lucky enough to find her. Her kindness and compassion to others was inspiring and her underestimated sense of humor was contagious. She was a talented artist, enjoyed birdwatching, cooking and had a beautiful singing voice. Above all, Lynda cherished time with her family. Visits from her grandchildren & great grandchildren tickled her pink. She was a devoted wife and Mother who deeply cared equally for her children and always spoke the truth. You always felt loved around Lynda and she will dearly missed.
She’s survived by her 3 daughters - Angela (Mark) Spreter of Brewster, NY Lisa (Jason) Fontana of Oswego, NY and Teresa (Chad) Evans of Wildwood, MO. She’s blessed with 6 grandchildren (Samuel & Aidan Spreter, Timothy Ellis, Maggie Hill, Ethan & Ava Evans), 2 step grandchildren (Aiden & Brandy Towne) and 3 great grandchildren (Evie Ellis, Sophia & Anna Hill).
