Marshall C. Sharkey, 90, a resident of county Route 7, Oswego Town, passed away on his 90th birthday, Thursday, April 11, 2013.
Born in the town of Oswego, he was a son of the late Charles and Hazel (Greenwood) Sharkey.
He was in the CCC where he helped build Fair Haven.
He worked at Hammermill as a boiler attendant for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and golfing.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, on the April 28, Esther (Rogers) Sharkey; five daughters, Jane (David) Pelton, of Texas, Joyce (Thomas) Pavek, of Ohio, Mary Young, of Texas, Marjorie (Timothy) Malone, of Oswego Town, and Julie (Timothy) DeSacia, of Oswego Town; a daughter-in-law, Janice Sharkey, of Mississippi; two brothers, Charles (Carrie) Sharkey, of Hannibal, and Earl (Barbara) Sharkey, of Oswego Town; two sisters, Edith Powers and Ella Cooper, both of Oswego Town; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Jane Sharkey, both of Oswego; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
He was predeceased by his son, Marshall C. Sharkey Jr., and brothers, George, Lloyd, Harold, Robert and Glenn Sharkey.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Oswego First United Methodist Church, 7111 sstate Route 104, in Oswego.
Calling hours will be held from 3-6 p.m., Wednesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., in Oswego.
