Oswego is experiencing a boom in commercial construction in 2020 with numerous projects currently underway.
The most prominent of these are the multi-story mixed use buildings going up on East and West First Streets and on Lake Street. Many are wondering what will be occupying these spaces. Most residents would prefer that new businesses not be duplicates of what we already have, so I've tried to come up with some types that might be welcome additions to our already vibrant downtown. Some of these are businesses that Oswego have had in previous years. Others would be new to the area.
The $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant that Oswego received from the State of New York in 2018 has the potential to do just what its title states, for our city. The nearly completed Litatro Building will reportedly become home to the "Southern Fare" restaurant, the first of hopefully many businesses new to Oswego. Additionally, there is City grant money as I for one, am looking forward to what the future will bring to wonderful community.
