After qualifying and participating in the 2023 National Showcase in Norwood, Massachusetts hosted by The Skating Club of Boston, Rowan Mott decided she loved to make the audience “feel” through her skating.

Showcase is an exciting theatrical opportunity for skaters who love entertaining crowds. The skaters and audience alike enjoy a thrilling performance that fuses figure skating with artistic creativity.

National Showcase is a competition filled with inspiration, and skaters who qualify are strongly encouraged to participate. With only 5 events, and flights of up to 60 skaters at times, it’s certainly one of the most prestigious competitions to  qualify for and participate in.

To qualify for one of the 5 singles events, skaters must compete in an event that uses CJS and place in the top four in their flight. Individual skaters must also have passed a test at the preliminary level or higher as well.

Rowan Mott, member of Oswego Figure Skating Club, traveled from Oswego, NY to Music City this Spring to be part of Nashville’s longest running and most elite tradition of skating competition. Nashville Figure Skating Club’s premier event took place at Centennial Sportsplex Ice Arenas in Nashville, TN.

Rowan competed at the preliminary level, placing 3rd in Lyrical Pop, 2nd in Comedic Impressions and new category as of 2024 Theme Event (changing Theme every year, this year is Taylor Swift), she received 1st place.

Qualifying her to return to National Showcase for the second year in a row, 2024’s National Event will be hosted by the Peninsula Figure Skating Club, in San Jose, California this summer.

iHeart Oswego previously covered Mott's achievements in 2022.
