While Oswego Speedway is closed for racing action this Saturday due to the annual Harborfest weekend, Oswego Kartway will continue as planned on Friday night with GS Steamers Bar & Grill Night at the Races.

A weekly record of 102 entries took to the 'Bull Ring' the last time the Kartway was in action July 12, and another stellar field is expected this Friday as preparations begin for the seventh annual Oswego Kartway Classic coming up at the end of August.

Oswego Kartway's point battles have shaped up to be quite exciting this season and two classes in particular have seen the gap close for the championship lead.

The Jr. Blue Clone division, dominated in recent weeks by current point leader Alex Losurdo, has seen a bit of a shake-up with Ryan Perkins picking up a big feature win two weeks ago. Perkins managed to close the margin down to just 17-points for the championship lead as Losurdo ran into issues back on July 12. Seth Perrin, another Jr. Blue Clone feature winner in 2013, currently rides third in the standings only 10-points behind Perkins.

Sean Simmons and Katelynn Stevens round out the top five positions in Jr. Blue Clone followed by Britney Baum, Seth Baum, Morgan Thomas, Suzi Roy and Anthony Rasmussen.

The Animal division saw another new feature winner July 12 with BJ Ingersoll driving the No. 40 to victory lane. Ingersoll is now only 11-points behind championship leader and two-time feature winner, Cris Lane.

Other Oswego Kartway championship point leaders include Joshua Ostrander (Sr. Blue Clone), Dylan Trump (Jr. Silver Clone), Matthew Barbour (Gold Plate), Dan Kapuscinski (Stock Heavy), Joe Hayden (Clone Heavy), Kaylynn Simmons (Clone Light), Corey Norton (Open), Jake Sivers (Stock Light), and DJ Shuman (Clone Super Heavy).

Kartway racing on Friday night is presented by GS Steamers Bar & Grill located at 70 E. First St., in Oswego.

Overlooking the historic Oswego Harbor, GS Steamers Bar & Grill offers a relaxing nautical atmosphere, and amazing view of downtown Oswego and Lake Ontario, that is perfect for your casual dining and drinking pleasures.

Enjoy GS Steamers Bar & Grill's beautiful vantage from The Deck, while you savour their Classic American menu – all of course served by their friendly and professional staff.

Oswego Kartway racing on Friday will see pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the night's first race at 7:30 p.m.

Entry cost is $15 for members and $18 for non-members, with pit passes set at $10. Spectator entry is $5 per carload.
