Oswego Scores Easily in Win Over Elmira

OS Lacross The Oswego State men`s lacrosse team proved to be too much for the visiting Elmira College Soaring Eagles with a 20-11 win in a rain-soaked contest on Monday at the South Athletic Field. Oswego`s season mark improves to 5-6 with the victory while Elmira dropped to 2-8.

Oswego opened the game with four-straight goals and never looked backed, earning a commanding 13-4 advantage at halftime. The Lakers mimicked their start to the game in the third quarter, coming out of the break to another four-goal run. Oswego held its largest lead of 13 goals at two different points in the game at 17-4 and 18-5.

Cody Hoose led the Lakers on offense, playing the role of distributor, handing out four assists for his teammates while scoring twice himself. Nick Giampaolo and Troy Crevier both finished with four points, with Giampaolo going for three goals and one assists while Crevier was balanced with two of each. Crevier also dominated the X on the day, winning 19 of a possible 26 faceoffs.

Jimmy Cordon and Matt Palmer chipped in three goals apiece while Torry Whitcher matched their point total with two goals and a helper. Rounding out Oswego's multiple-point achievers was Connor Khammar, who found the back of the net twice. Also scoring for the Lakers were Mark Niechcial, DJ Sellick and Chris Porten.

Wyatt Russo earned the win in goal, making five saves in the first half. Bryan Martin closed out the game in the second half, saving a team-best seven shots.

Oswego was impressive during extra-man opportunities, scoring on half of its chances (4-for-8).

The Lakers will return to the field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts SUNY Canton for their Senior Day game.
