Write a commentPaul F. Franz, of Oswego New York, passed away May 28, 2020 at St. Luke’s Health Services in Oswego New York due to chronic medical conditions.
Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran. He joined the Navy at age 18 and spent 6 months on the U.S.S. Saratoga Aircraft Carrier on the Mediterranean Sea. He was proud to serve his country.
He was born in Syracuse New York and is the son of Clovis F. McIntyre, who died May 9, 1952 when Paul was 3 years old. He was later adopted by Paul R. Franz of Utica New York, who passed away on May 24, 2001. His mother, Freda Franz of Powell Ohio is 95 years old and is saddened to have survived her first born son.
Paul worked in healthcare for 20 years. He spent 2 years as a nurses aide while he received his degree to be a Physical Therapy Assistant. He spent all of those years at St. Luke’s in Oswego.
Paul’s greatest joys were fishing and hunting with his brother Jim. He loved the St. Lawrence River and spent as much time as he could enjoying nature. He adored the game of golf and for a big man could really carve a shot with finesse. He loved to laugh and had a great singing voice. He could harmonize like no other.
He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Freda and his siblings Theresa and Rich Gilchrist of Naples Florida, Jim and Valerie Franz of Brier Hill New York and Karen and Scott Calus of Powell Ohio. He has many nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends who will truly miss him.
Paul's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered by his family. There will be a celebration of his life held at the home of his brother Jim Franz in Brier Hill at a time to be announced.
