Write a commentPhyllis Ann (Gibson) Bullard, 89, of Minetto died December 18, 2018 at the Oswego Hospital.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Leotta (Wiltsie) Gibson.
Mrs. Bullard received her Bachelors Degree and teaching certification from SUNY Oswego in 1952. She went on to earn her her Masters Degree from Arizona State, while living in Phoenix with her husband.
Phyllis taught school from 1952-1992 and as a military wife was fortunate to do so in many different locations. She taught in Japan, Hawaii, Arizona and eventually retired from teaching within the OCSD at Minetto Elementary.
She was very active in her church community, taught Sunday school at Oswego Alliance Church, made quilts and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are her loving husband of 64 years, Fred Bullard and daughter, Elaine (Don) McArthur of Minetto; two grandchildren, Joseph (Kristin) McConkey of Charlotte NC, and Jennifer (Scott) Shannon of Oswego; and one great grandchild, Alexander Shannon.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by three brothers: Willard, Keith, and infant Robert Gibson; and sister Virginia Vogel.
Calling hours will be Thursday, December 20th from 4-7 PM at the Nelson Funeral Home.
Funeral will be Friday, December 21st, at 10 AM at Oswego Alliance Church.
Spring Burial will be held at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
