SUNY Oswego's Rice Creek Field Station will host free Rice Creek Rambles nature walks at 11 a.m. on eight Saturdays this summer.

The family-friendly, naturalist-led walks through shady woods and wetlands will take place June 6 and 20; July 11, 18 and 25; and Aug. 1, 8 and 15 at Rice Creek, the college's 400-acre, mixed terrain property and biological field station on Thompson Road about a mile south of the main campus. Free parking is available by the main building and near the main gate.

Since program size is limited, Rice Creek cannot accommodate groups; an adult needs to accompany children.

Registrations are still being accepted through June 5 for the Exploring Nature summer program for children, and through June 15 for the Conservation Field Studies program for teens.

Designed to pique the curiosity of children ages 5 to 13 about their world, Exploring Nature will run 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6 to 10 and/or July 13 to 17. Focusing on environmental stewardship through investigating Rick Creek's interdependent ecosystems, Conservation Field Studies for 9th- to 12th-graders will run from 3 to 5:30 p.m. July 20 to 22 and 7:30 to 10 p.m. July 23.

Trails at Rice Creek are open during daylight hours; the building is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. most Saturdays. The field station has extended a special Reunion 2015 invitation to SUNY Oswego alumni, family and friends to visit during those hours on Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, respectively.
