Shirley Florence Barnes, 88 and a former resident of County Route 1 in Scriba, passed away Tuesday evening at Seneca Hill Manor.
She was born in Middlebury, VT and was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Sara Cale Douglas. Mrs. Barnes was the widow of the late Alfred Barnes who died in 1988. She had been employed for many years with Birdseye Foods in Fulton and retired in 1990. Mrs. Barnes had been a very active member of the South Scriba Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters Gloria (Bill) Nickolas and Sara (Mike) Merritt both of Oswego, five sons Alfred Barnes, Jr. of Spring Hill, FL., Roger (Eleanor) Barnes of Oswego, Robert (Joyce) Barnes of Spring Hill, FL., Charles Barnes of Oswego, Timothy (Dianne) Barnes of Mexico, three brothers Cale (Linda) Douglas, Bruce (Dawn) Douglas both of Oswego, Stuart (Helen) Douglas of Maryland, one sister Nancy Douglas of Pennsylvania, thirty three grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one daughter and son in-law Gale Sawyer and her husband Fran Sawyer and one sister Charlotte McKinstry.
Funeral services will be held Friday 7:00PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. Calling hours 4-7PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
