SUNY Oswego Metro Center to Present `Nature Moments` Exhibition

     The first fall art exhibition for the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse will feature the work of Central New York artist Melissa Johnson.

     "Nature Moments: Paintings and Drawings" will run Sept. 11 to Oct. 11 at Tyler Art Gallery @ SUNY Oswego Metro Center in The Atrium, 2 Clinton Square in Syracuse. A free public reception with the artist will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Metro Center.

     Johnson's work incorporates organic forms and animal imagery, and features a variety of marks and materials. The artist, an assistant professor of art at Cayuga Community College's School of Media and the Arts, trained and received bachelor's and master's in fine arts degrees at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago after she earned an undergraduate degree in rural sociology at Cornell University.

     Visitors can view the free exhibition at Tyler Art Gallery @ SUNY Oswego Metro Center from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fridays. Saturday hours are variable, and visitors should contact Tyler Art Gallery for information at 315-312-2112.
