ROME, NY – AmeriCU Credit Union continues to recognize the service and sacrifice of military families and reaffirming its long-standing commitment to those who serve. Founded in 1950 at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York, AmeriCU was built on military roots and continues to support service members.
For military families, financial needs often happen during some of life’s most challenging moments—including deployments, relocations, transitions to civilian life, and the uncertainty that can come with military service. That’s why access to trusted financial guidance, flexible support, and strong community connections can make a meaningful difference.
At Fort Drum, where AmeriCU has served for 38 years as the only full-service financial institution on post, that support includes practical resources designed to meet families where they are. In 2025, AmeriCU helped support 652 incoming soldiers through budgeting education and financial readiness guidance, while also providing secure virtual banking access for military members and families serving around the world.
Through the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation, the credit union also partners with organizations dedicated to strengthening military and veteran communities across New York State. In 2025, the Foundation invested more than $150,000 in military-focused initiatives, including wellness programs, suicide prevention efforts, and partnerships that support service members, veterans, and their families.
“Service members and their families sacrifice so much for our country. Supporting them is something we take seriously at AmeriCU Credit Union,” said Ron Belle, AmeriCU’s President and CEO. “We are proud to stand beside those who serve and support them through every stage of life.”
