We are saddened to announce that our beloved son and brother Timothy J. Kelly passed away in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 31st due to complications from brain cancer surgery at the age of 66.
Tim was born in Oswego and was the son of Joseph T. and Agatha M. DeBelles Kelly of Oswego.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four siblings, Theresa (Tess) Kelly of Novi, Michigan, Paula (Mike) Tighe, of Pulaski, New York, Carla (Peter) Bowers of Napa, California and Joseph (Rusty) Kelly (JP Stephenson) of Emeryville, California, one nephew, Scott Tighe of Williamstown, New York and a niece Jennifer Tighe of South Jordan, Utah.
Tim stood out in a crowd for his looks and his stature at over 6 feet 4 inches. He loved to vigorously discuss many topics from the hottest stocks of the day, to politics, and from religion to baseball (especially the Tampa Bay Rays). He was always there for his family and friends when called upon to lend loving support in his stoic way.
Tim graduated from State University College at Oswego (SUCO) in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. To pursue his love of politics he spent time living in Washington D. C. and working on Capitol Hill, followed by a move to L.A. to experience the Southern California lifestyle.
Recently for the past 10 years, Tim has resided in St. Petersburg, Florida, working as a fan host for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, never missing a day of the season.
Calling hours will be 2-5PM Monday April 8th at Dain Cullinan Funeral Home in Oswego, N.Y.
Funeral services will be Tuesday April 9, 10:30AM in St. Paul’s Church. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you kindly donate on Tim’s behalf to Suncoast Hospice in St. Petersburg, Florida. https://suncoasthospice.org/online-donations/
