The St. Anne Society of St. Joseph’s Church in Oswego recently conducted its annual raffle which occurs during the month of December.
This year’s much- coveted prizes resulted in swift and plentiful ticket sales. Local artisan, Marion Pooler, created and donated a lovely oil painting and a beautiful afghan. The oil painting was won by Margaret Randazzo, and Jim Conzone won the afghan. Theresa McManus, known for her decorating flair, put together a basket of goodies with an accompanying holiday centerpiece, and Charles and Dolores Josh were the happy winners.
The founding of the Altar Society/St. Anne Society took place in 1928, and the group remains active to this day. The dedicated women who are members of the society are committed to their faith, to their parish, and to their community. Since its inception, the Society has deepened the spiritual life of its members. It has also contributed generously and consistently over the years to the material growth of St. Joseph’s Church through many and varied fundraisers. Successful endeavors such as bake sales, social games, spaghetti suppers, and raffles have kept the members busy and have greatly benefitted St. Joseph’s Church.
The St. Anne Society meets six times a year to plan activities as well as to socialize and to share the faith. They continue to support St. Joseph’s Church through fundraisers such as the very popular and successful Christmas Raffle. The members fulfill various needs of the parish such as organizing First Communion and Confirmation receptions as well as social receptions.
The St. Anne Society also reaches out to the larger local community with charitable acts. Each year the Society prepares the Christmas Gift Giving Tree. This vibrant group of women, devoted to St. Joseph’s Church, who live their faith through service to the parish as well as to the larger community are appreciated and respected by their fellow parishioners.
