OSWEGO, NY — The Rural Health Network of Oswego County (RHNOC), a program of Oswego County Opportunities (OCO), is partnering with the Oswego County Prevention Coalition and the Office of Senator Christopher Ryan to bring the 2026 Oswego County Senior Fair back to Oswego on Tuesday, September 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center.

Held annually around Falls Prevention Awareness Day, the Senior Fair has become one of Oswego County's largest events dedicated to older adults. The event is designed to connect residents with health services, community resources, educational opportunities, and local organizations that support healthy aging.

This year's event will include flu and COVID-19 vaccinations provided by Wegmans, balance screenings and falls prevention education from CenterWell Home Health, food box distribution through the Food Bank of Central New York, and dozens of community organizations offering information, resources, and support services.

For organizers, however, the Senior Fair is about more than the services available on a single day.

"The Senior Fair is one of my favorite examples of what a rural health network is meant to do," said Joelle Hutson, coordinator of Community Health at Oswego County Opportunities, and director of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County. "Our role isn't to provide every service ourselves; it's to bring people together. This event succeeds because healthcare providers, community organizations, businesses, government partners, and volunteers all show up with a shared goal of making sure older adults in Oswego County have access to the information, services, and support they need to thrive."

The event is coordinated through the Rural Health Network of Oswego County and supported by a growing coalition of partners who recognize that addressing the needs of older adults requires collaboration across sectors.

"When we talk about helping seniors age safely and successfully, no one organization can do that work alone," said Jennifer Rice, chair of Caring Community Advocates of Oswego County, a subcommittee of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County. "The Senior Fair is successful because it reflects the strengths of our community. Healthcare providers, social service agencies, public health partners, businesses, caregivers, and volunteers all contribute something valuable. Together, we're able to create an event that has a real impact on the lives of older adults and their families."

As Oswego County's population continues to age, organizers say opportunities to connect residents with services, preventive care, and community resources are more important than ever. The Senior Fair offers a convenient and welcoming way for attendees to explore available supports while building relationships with organizations working throughout the county.

"Our seniors deserve access to the resources and support that can help them remain healthy, independent, and connected,” said NYS Senator, 50th Senate District Christopher Ryan. The Oswego County Senior Fair brings together a variety of healthcare resources in one place, making it easier for older adults and their families to find the services they need. I am proud to partner with Oswego County Opportunities, the Rural Health Network of Oswego County, and so many dedicated organizations for this important event– ensuring our seniors continue to receive the care, respect, and opportunities they need."

The Rural Health Network of Oswego County extends its appreciation to the many partners whose commitment and collaboration make the event possible each year.
