Congratulations to Captain Trevor Gibson and teammate Will Weimer on out-shooting a competitive field of golfers to become the 2018 Stone Creek Fall Bash Champions.
The one-day captain & mate event challenged the field of golfers as they faced adverse weather conditions of rain, frigid 40 degree temperatures, and a 2-3 club wind. Team Gibson dominated off the tee with the long ball from Weimer setting up multiple scoring opportunities. The Gibson/Weimer duo gave up 3 bogies throughout the day and secured 4 birdies and an eagle that kept the team in contention. On the par 5, dog leg left hole #16, Weimer’s drive set the team up for one last run at the lead as they trailed by 2 with 3 to play. Gibson would hit a wedge to 25 feet setting the team up for eagle. Gibson would make the left to right uphill eagle putt to move to 3 under. The two would par out and create a 3-way playoff with Scott Baker/Billy Beckwith and Chris Wright/Bob Ruggio Jr..
Playoff would ensue on the 345-yard hole #9. Gibson’s wedge from 100 yards out nearly went in as it nestled tight for a “tap in” birdie opportunity. Birdie attempts by Baker / Beckwith and Wright / Ruggio would just edge out. Gibson/Weimer would make the 1 foot birdie to secure the 2018 Fall Bash.
2nd Place went to Chris Wright and Bob Ruggio Jr. who made a good run being the only team in the field to shoot a bogie free 67 with birdies on #1, #11, and #16. The two would play in a second-place playoff against Baker/Beckwith. Both teams went on to par #9, birdie #1, par #2, and on the 338 yard, par 4, 3rd hole, Chris Wright would make a slippery, left to right, downhill 15ft birdie putt to secure second-place.
