Katie Bott (Camillus, N.Y.), a junior on the women's indoor track and field team, and Chris
Gilkes (Syracuse, N.Y.), a senior on the men's basketball team, have been named the Oswego State Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 3.
Bott registered two top-three finishes at the Ithaca Invitational on Saturday. She was part of a 4x400 relay team that set a school record after placing third with an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:05.95. The same relay team previously bested the record last year with a time of 4:10.47. Bott also set an Ithaca Athletics and Events Center record in the 400-meter dash with a first-place time of 1:00.04, which qualified her for the ECAC Championships.
Gilkes posted averages of 15.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals in three games this week, leading Oswego State to a 2-1 record. He had a career night against Buffalo State when he scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He also averaged over 33 minutes per game despite the Lakers winning their two games by at least 18 points. Tuesday's win came against Geneseo, who was No. 1 in the conference entering the week.
