The volleyball team is working on a six-game win streak after going 4-0 at the Oswego State Fall Classic this weekend.
After winning all four games in the classic, the Lakers improve to 11-6 on the year.
The Lakers are tournament champions after beating Alfred State and Elmira College Friday, Sept. 20, and SUNY Geneseo and Hamilton College, Saturday, Sept. 21.
Stephanie Bailey was named tournament MVP and Megan Russell was named to the all-tournament team as well.
MATCH ONE
In the first match of the day Saturday, Oswego beat Geneseo in four sets, 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 25-21).
Emma Moriarty led the team with 15 kills. Bailey and Sabrina Sutton each had 10 while Russell had eight and Meaghan Roefs had five.
Lauren Edwards had 36 assists and three aces while Lindsay Champitto had seven kills. Rachel Ruggaber had a kill. Sutton had two aces while Meaghan Puff and Megan Dignanboth had one.
The team had nine total blocks in the game.
MATCH TWO
In the final match of the classic, the Lakers topped Hamilton in five sets, 3-2 (18-25, 9-25, 25-13, 25-13, 15-13). The Continentals stormed out to a 2-0 lead after cruising past Oswego easily in the first two sets. Oswego would not be silenced, however, not allowing Hamilton to exceed 13 points in any of the last three sets.
Bailey led the team in kills with 11. Moriarty had seven and Sutton had six. Russell and Roefs both had four.
Edwards had a team high 30 assists, while Champitto had six. Sutton and Morgan Lavner both had two service aces.
The Lakers finished the second contest with 11 blocks.
Oswego will return to action when it travels to SUNY Cortland for a 7 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 27.
