The Oswego State women`s ice hockey team fell to 8-3-1 on the season with a 4-2 loss at St. Norbert College on Friday night at the Cornerstone Center.
St. Norbert scored the game's first two goals before Oswego cut the lead in half. Emma Smetaniuk notched a goal with assists from Olivia Boersen and Melissa Seamont at the 3:14 mark of the second period. Smetaniuk's goal came just 12 seconds after St. Norbert scored its second goal.
The host scored the eventual game-winner late in the second period but Jocelyn St. Clair gave the Lakers a shot to mount a comeback in the third. Alli Ullrich and Bailee Goodon assisted with just over five minutes left on St. Clair's goal to make the score 3-2. St. Norbert sealed the victory with an empty net goal in the final minute of play.
Catherine Cote started in net for the Lakers and stopped 17 shots in the loss.
The two teams will square off again at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
