Fulton’s historic Mt. Adnah Cemetery is brewing up two spooky days for you this September. In an ambiance of lanterns, a real cemetery and the voices of the deceased that have been laid to rest there, this an event you won’t want to miss!
An original script was written by board member of Mt Adnah Cemetery and marketing professional Stephen Chirello. Chirello, Local Producer/Director Gina Mazzoli and talented local costumer Tracy Edson have put together a truly unique experience that will surely get you in the “Spirit” for Halloween season. This event is produced in collaboration with The Art Scene (also located in Fulton) and the upcoming production of “The Haunting of Hill House,” running October 22nd-25th also directed by Mazzoli.
The tour is guided by one deceased resident of the cemetery known as William Parkhouse played by Donald Crowe. Crowe will guide guests to each spooky stop where the spirits of Mt. Adnah will tell their history and contributions to the City of Fulton as we know it today. There are several famous residents featured on the tour including Marlon Brando’s great uncle, Neil Jones who coined the term ‘astronaut’ and Horace Webb, a king of clowns who performed with Barnum and Bailey Circus in the early 20th Century. Much of the material for this production comes from a book written by local author Jim Farfaglia entitled “Mount of Repose: A History of Mt. Adnah Cemetery.” This book is available for purchase at local bookstores, the cemetery office and on Amazon.
Mazzoli states, “I am proud to help bring this original work to “life.” This is not a local haunt in which ghosts scare you at each stop, this a unique experience to hear the voices of the deceased tell their stories in their place of rest, with just the right setting to get your spooky season off to a great start, not to mention it’s for a great cause!” All proceeds from this event will go toward the maintenance and preservation of Mt. Adnah Cemetery. All actors, staff and board members are volunteering their time, talents and expertise for this one-of-a-kind event. Mazzoli also states, “If being in a dimly lit cemetery at night gets you a bit “spooked,” that’s no problem! We have a matinee tour in which you can enjoy the show in a less spooky atmosphere during daylight hours and tickets are on sale for that performance for just fifteen dollars!”
“Mt Adnah Cemetery Spirits Speak” is sponsored by Fulton Savings Bank and runs Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th at 8:00 PM for a ticket price of $25. The Tour will also run September 26th for the matinee at 3:00 PM for the ticket price of $15. All tours include refreshments in ticket prices. The tour will run rain or shine, please wear comfortable shoes for walking. The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
