Ladies Golf League Supports 8th OCO Cancer Awareness Tournament

The Ladies Golf League at Cold Springs Golf Course in Mannsville recently held its 8th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness golf tournament.

The event raised $1,535 in support of the Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) Cancer Services Program, which provides free mammograms, breast exams, and breast ultrasounds for uninsured and under-insured women in Oswego County.

“I am very grateful to Arlene Bauer, Mary Alford, and their planning committee as well as the businesses and individuals that graciously sponsored the tournament,” said Coordinator of OCO’s Cancer Services Program Carolyn Handville. “It’s rewarding to know that the work we do is appreciated and valued by the communities we serve. Their efforts and support are essential to the success of the Cancer Services Program and helps make our community a better place for all.”

“Donations from caring individuals such as the members of the Ladies Golf League at Cold Springs Golf Course gives hope to the many people that the Cancer Services Program serves. I extend my sincerest thanks for remembering us again this year and to all the business and individuals that graciously sponsored the tournament, added Handville.”

Administered through Oswego County Opportunities, the Cancer Services Program Partnership offers a number of cancer screening services including: Clinical Breast Exams, Mammograms, Pap/Pelvic Exams, and Colorectal Cancer Screenings for men and women. These screenings are available year round, free of charge, and play an important part in maintaining good health. For more information about the Cancer Services Program Partnership or to check your eligibility, contact Carolyn Handville at 315-592-0830.

One of Oswego County’s largest employers, OCO provides more than 50 human service programs that touch the lives of approximately 20,000 county residents each year. OCO’s mission is to build partnerships that improve the quality of life and create successful communities. Visit OCO on the web at www.oco.org. Oswego County Opportunities is a member agency of the United Way of Greater Oswego County.
