The Oswego State men's swimming and diving team scored a 345.5 Saturday afternoon at the Geneseo Invitational, taking second place out of five teams. Oswego placed first in two events and second in another.
Distance was Oswego's strong point Saturday, as both of the teams wins came in those events. First it was James Pope who earned a first place victory in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at a time of 11:03.17. James Dillon followed suit, picking up his top finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:09.95. Zach Gerber took second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.68, just three seconds off the top time.
In the diving events Ben Hale took third in the 1-meter dive and fourth in the 3-meter, recording scores of 434.45 and 421.75, respectively.
Oswego will return to the pool at the SUNYAC Championships on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Erie Community College in Buffalo.
