The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings has named Oswego State's Eric Hamilton to its national 2015 Gold Glove Team. Hamilton's recognition is at third base, where the sophomore was recognized as the best at that position during this season. He is one of just nine to garner a gold glove, and the only representative from New York State.
One of the Lakers' most versatile defensive players, Hamilton spends the majority of his time anchoring the left corner of the infield while getting some action behind the dish. On the year, the Liverpool, N.Y. native had 117 chances, making just five errors for a .957 fielding percentage. Of those 117 chances, 40 went for assists and 72 registered for a putout while also turning four double plays during the 2015 campaign.
The Gold Glove comes on the heels of Hamilton being named to the Second Team All-New York Region by D3baseball.com and Third Team All-New York by ABCA/Rawlings. Hamilton was also a First Team All-SUNYAC selection.
Established in 1945, the ABCA is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 6,600 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries.
