The Oswego State women's soccer team fell to Potsdam 1-0 on Saturday. With the loss, the Lakers move to 4-4-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the SUNYAC, while the Bears improve to 8-2-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in the conference.
Oswego outshot Potsdam 17-5, with six shots on-goal. Freshman Mackenzie Schaffner led both teams with four shots, while upperclassmen Aubrey Burbidge and Emma Geyer each contributed three.
The Lakers held the Bears scoreless in the first half. Oswego's best chance of the first half happened in the 41stminute when Taylor Harrington's header was saved by Potsdam's goalie. The Lakers had three shots within the 41st minute.
Potsdam took the lead early in the second half on a goal that barely made it into the right side of the net, but the Lakers continued to rain down shots for the rest of the game. The Lakers took eight shots in the second half compared to the Bears' two.
Oswego will play host again on Friday, this time to SUNYAC foe Buffalo State. Kick-off is at 3 p.m.
