Oswego Library Announces Summer Reading Program

Kick Off Your Summer Reading Adventure with a Roar at the Oswego Public Library!

Oswego, New York – Join us on an expedition into the prehistoric! This year's Summer Reading program, "Unearth a Story," is your chance to dig into a good book.

Oswego Men`s Basketball Uses Runs to Down New Paltz

    OS BasketballThe Oswego State men's basketball battled for a 64-52 win over host New Paltz on Tuesday night. With the win, Oswego improves to 11-5 on the season while moving back above .500 in SUNYAC play with a 5-4 mark.

     In a game of runs, New Paltz opened the game on a 7-0 spurt before Oswego answered back with a 10-0 span of its own. The Lakers expanded its lead all the way to 16-9 but the Hawks then gained control with a 17-2 run to lead 26-18 with 4:30 left in the period.

     Oswego saved one last burst for the first half, finishing the stanza with 11 unanswered points to hold a 29-26 edge at the break.

     The second half saw the Laker run continue, adding 13 more points for a total of 24 unanswered tallies. Oswego's stretch lasted exactly nine minutes between the end of the first half and beginning of the second, giving the squad a 42-26 advantage. New Paltz would never get closer than nine points for the rest of the contest.

     Rashawn Powell led the team with a double-double, his fifth of the season, grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Keith Tyson paced the Lakers with a career-high 19 points and also had a career-high five blocks.

     Daniel Ross and Mark Candelario rounded out Oswego's double figure scorers, both matching Powell's 10 tallies. Ross packed the stat sheet, recording team-highs for assists (6) and steals (3).

     The Lakers will have the weekend off before returning to action at 8 p.m. when they travel to Geneseo for a conference competition.
