Witchells Records Double-Double in Loss at Geneseo

OS BasketballThe Oswego State women`s basketball team struggled at Geneseo on Tuesday night, falling 83-58 in a conference matchup. Oswego`s loss drops the team to 6-11 overall with a 2-8 SUNYAC mark while the Knights improve to 11-5, 5-4.

The Lakers fell despite Haley Witchella's first double-double in an Oswego jersey, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Witchella shot 7-for-9 from the field, including 1-for-3 from beyond the arc, while swatting a Knight attempt on defense.

Jenn Robbins brought her streak of double-digit scoring to nine-straight games, tallying 13 points on the night.

Geneseo opened the game on a 5-0 run, eventually growing its lead to 19-8 with 12 minutes to play in the half. The Knights stretched their lead to as many as 19 during the period, leading by that margin at 44-25 as the two teams headed to the locker rooms for halftime.

Oswego allowed a 6-0 run to open the second half which led to Geneseo holding a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.

The Lakers will continue on the road at 6 p.m. on Friday when it travels to Western New York to take on the Bengals of Buffalo State.
