The United Way of Greater Oswego County and DuFore's for Diamonds will be making one lucky person's Christmas extra special this year.
Retired Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jack Rucynski took time out Friday, Nov. 9, to visit and have lunch with the veterans residing at Morningstar Residential Care Center, in Oswego.
Flags in the Oswego Peace Garden fly proud in the unseasonably warm breeze on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The garden is located at the Leotta-Seaway Trail Park and gateway to Oswego Harbor Rail Trail on East First Street.
The annual Veterans Day Ceremony was held at Veterans Memorial Park, located on the west side of the city northern end of the Oswego River Walk, on Sunday.

The Fulton Veterans Council invites members of the public to its Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11 at Veterans’ Park, located across from the Fulton Municipal Building on South First Street.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will conduct its final November regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Education Center Board Room.
All Oswego County offices, including the solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers, will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22 and 23, for Thanksgiving.
The Bristol Hill Landfill and the Energy Recovery Facility will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, for major haulers only. The scales close at 3:30 p.m. The solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers will resume regular hours Saturday, Nov. 24. The Oswego Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning has partnered with Lunar Cow Design, Inc. to create a realistic virtual magazine of two of its publications.
