The Oswego State golf team took second place at the Elmira College Spring Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, trailing only the host Soaring Eagles by four strokes. Oswego shot 327 on the par-72 course as Elmira shot a 323. Keystone College finished with a 383 for third place while Keuka College placed last with a 403.
Each of the Laker golfers ended the day in the top 10 out of 22 participants. Oswego was led by Kyle Brockmann, who took second place with a consistent day. The junior played a 39 stroke front nine and matched that with an identical score on the backside to finish with a team-best 78.
Next for the Lakers was Dan North, who grabbed sole-possession of sixth place with an 82. One stroke behind North was teammate Thomas Mills, tying for seventh with an 83.
Taking ninth place in the tournament and rounding the scores counted towards Oswego's team total was Tyler Wurzer's 84.
Omari Howard tied for 10th on the day, shooting 42 on the front and 43 on the final nine for a cumulative score of 85.
Oswego will round out its 2013-14 campaign by hosting the 8th Annual Laker Spring Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the Oswego Country Club.
